Nishikigoi

Means 'brocaded coloured carp' in Japanese. Also sometimes referred to as 'Japanese Fancy Carp'. Brocaded means 'embellished with raised pattern, woven pattern' which is pretty much what Koi is all about.

In English we simply refer to Nishikigoi as Koi. Fancy way of letting people know you're 'in the know'. Difficult to drop into dinner conversation after 6 bottles of wine without slurring...
